Meet Maria Brandone
Marching Bio
In high school I attended Carlsbad High school in Carlsbad, CA. I marched in the marching band for two years, then transferred to a small charter school across town called Guajome Park Academy. This school did not have a music program, so for my last two years of high school I did not play any kind of instrument. Right out of high school, I began attending Boise State University. I am in the Blue Thunder Marching Band where I play Baritone for parades, and in the stands for football and basketball games. I also am in the Front Ensemble at BSU for halftime performances. Go Broncos :)!
This past 2011 summer, I had the privilege to march with The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps out of Wyoming. I was in the Front Ensemble and played Vibes.
This summer, I will be marching with the Crossmen, out of Texas. I will be in the Front Ensemble.
Personal Bio
My name is Maria and I'm from Carlsbad, California. I moved to Idaho to attend Boise State University right after, where I am now a second year student studying Mass Communications. When I was 3 months old, I was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis type 1, which is a genetic tumor disorder. The tumors grow under, on, or on top of the skin, and mostly in the nervous system. Because of my NF, this summer I was hospitalized multiple times for different reasons, even asked to come home by my doctors back in Boise. Because it was out of state, my families insurance did not cover it, leaving my family to pay all of my hospital bills in full from this summer.
Since returning from tour, i've seen many doctors that have given me the go ahead to march again this summer, which i'm very excited about!
Because of all of my medical bills, my parents have made it very clear that if I was to march, it would be on my own dime. Because of this, I have created an online business. I have started selling hemp bracelets on an online store, where the link is below. I make different corps bracelets and also fashion and custom orders. All of this money goes right into an account where my tour fees will be paid from.
Again, if you choose to HELPMEMACH this 2012 summer, I can only say thank you in advance. I caFn not wait to be on the field, healthy. Please visit my store on the link below to help fund my DCI tuition.
Thank you again!
Maria
